SI Edu is a Mac app for teachers. It works on your own computer. This page says what it reads, what it keeps, and what leaves your Mac.

Who we are

SI Edu is made by SenseAI, Auckland, New Zealand ("we"). Contact: sense33ai@gmail.com.

Google data

You choose whether to connect Google. If you do, SI Edu asks only for the access you tick:

Gmail	Read your email (`gmail.readonly`)	Lists your recent inbox, sorts each message by who sent it, and shows a message when you open it.
Google Drive	See and download your files (`drive.readonly`)	Lists your Google Slides and PowerPoint files and, when you choose one, downloads it so SI Edu can keep a copy as a lesson. The original stays in your Drive, unchanged.
Google Calendar	See your calendar events (`calendar.events.readonly`)	Shows the next seven days of your main calendar on the Today page.

SI Edu cannot send, change or delete your email, files or events with these permissions.

Where Google data goes. It goes from Google straight to SI Edu on your Mac, and nowhere else. It is not sent to our servers or to any other company, it is not sold, it is not used for advertising, and it is not used to train any AI model. SI Edu does not send your Google data to any AI service.

SI Edu's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

What SI Edu keeps on your Mac

SI Edu does not save copies of your email or your calendar events. It reads them from Google when you open Mail or Today and shows them; when you close SI Edu, they are gone from SI Edu. Only a presentation you choose to import is kept, as a lesson.

What leaves your Mac

Lesson requests. When you ask for a lesson, worksheet or check, your request and the material being written are sent to the AI service that writes it: our AI service if you use an SI Edu access key, or the AI assistant you use with SI Edu under that company's own terms. To ask what our AI service keeps about your requests, write to us.
Picture searches. To find pictures for slides, SI Edu searches the web with words from the lesson topic.
Please do not put pupils' full names or private details in a lesson request.

Your Google data is never part of what leaves your Mac.

Disconnecting and deleting

In SI Edu, open Mail and click Disconnect. SI Edu tells Google to cancel its access, then deletes the sign-in token and the connection file from your Mac.
You can also remove SI Edu's access at any time in your Google Account, under Security, then Third-party apps and services.
Your lessons stay in your SI Edu lesson folder until you delete them.

Pupils

SI Edu is for teachers. It is not meant to be used by pupils.

Your rights

Under New Zealand's Privacy Act 2020 you can ask us for the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it. Because SI Edu keeps your data on your own Mac, we usually hold none. Write to sense33ai@gmail.com. If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.

Changes

If SI Edu changes what it reads or where data goes, we update this page before that version is released, and SI Edu asks you again before it uses any new access.
